A massive earthquake in August last year flattened entire villages and left thousands without shelter.
With support from generous donors, UNHCR rushed emergency aid to families in disaster zones. Teams worked tirelessly to reach those in need, travelling on foot to provide remote communities with survival essentials like tarpaulins, blankets and solar lamps.
But six months on, earthquake survivors are struggling to rebuild. They urgently need more help.
Afghans remain trapped in a humanitarian catastrophe. Hunger and poverty are rampant. Women and girls are unable to exercise their basic human rights. When disasters like this strike, they strip people of the little safety and stability they have.
Please donate now to help vulnerable Afghans recover and rebuild.
The majority of funds raised by Australia for UNHCR are directed to UNHCR’s emergency operations, providing the ready funds and resources to respond quickly and effectively in situations of crisis and disaster.
